Legal action against police and public organisations

Legal help to challenge something done by a public organisation. You might have been told you need to bring a ‘judicial review’.

This includes organisations like:

  • schools or other education settings
  • council, social services, local authority
  • NHS, hospitals
  • housing providers
  • a government department or agency
  • foster carers, care homes, care facilities

It also includes problems with the police, prisons or detention centres, for example if you’ve been:

  • wrongfully arrested, stopped, held or detained anywhere
  • physically, sexually or emotionally abused
